David Mathistad Spokane

Graveside service for David Carl Mathistad, 36, will be at 11:30 a.m. today at Pines Cemetery. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Watford City, N.D., Mr. Mathistad died Friday of leukemia.

He was a longtime Spokane resident.

He is survived by his father, Paul Mathistad of Spokane; a brother, Ken Mathistad, and two sisters, Betty Konrad and Nancy Peterson, all of Spokane.

Helen (Lidstone) Nevin Spokane

Service for Helen Lidstone Nevin, 93, will be at 11 a.m. today at First Nazarene Church. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mrs. Nevin, who died Tuesday, was born in Chewelah, Wash., and had lived in Spokane for 85 years.

She lived in St. Maries for a short time and married Orvid Nevin there. They moved to Spokane and Mrs. Nevin was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Nazarene Church and the Women’s Christian Temperance Union.

Her husband of 62 years, died in 1986.

She is survived by five sons, Willis Nevin of Coos Bay, Ore., Merton, Walter, James and David Nevin, all of Spokane; two daughters, Shirley Nord of Spokane and Lucinda Smith of Tacoma; 21 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Maxine Griffin Spokane

Service for Maxine Dorine Griffin, 74, will be at 11 a.m. today at Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Chewelah, Wash. Burial will follow at Springdale (Wash.) Cemetery.

Born in Talbot, Alberta, Mrs. Griffin died Thursday.

She had lived in the Spokane area for 70 years.

Mrs. Griffin worked with the March of Dimes in the Spokane Valley for about 25 years.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Griffin; three sons, John, Larry and Thomas Griffin Jr., all of Spokane; a daughter, Patty Wolf of Valleyford; a sister, Alyce Durheim of Greenbluff; five brothers, Bill and John Matherly, both of Springdale, Frank Matherly of Alturas, Calif., Gene Matherly of Kelowna, British Columbia, and Wayne Matherly of Loon Lake, Wash.; numerous grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
