Sheriff Roos Winning Third Term

From Staff Reports

Bonner County sheriff

In early returns, Chip Roos, Bonner County’s incumbent sheriff, had a comfortable lead over Democrat Pete Robinson and appeared headed for a record third term as the county’s top law enforcement officer.

With five of the 36 precincts reporting, Roos had 849 votes to Robinson’s 386. Latecomer write-in candidate Hal Reise managed 19 votes.

Roos has been in law enforcement in the county 19 years. He helped pass a $3.9 million levy for a new jail and started the county’s canine unit, DARE program and inmate work program.
