Dear Heloise: Dust mops are a fast and efficient way to dust off the outside of a car or truck. Also, keep a spare dust mop to wipe off walls, hard-to-reach pictures, fans, lamps, etc. Make sure no metal parts are used.

To rid the dust mop of lint, I keep a whisk broom handy as I go outside and hold the back of the mop and whisk away fast and efficiently. When finished dusting, I place the mop upside down on concrete and hose off and let dry. Beats shaking the mop, and hosing down really rids the mop of lint and lint balls. - Michael Magdic, Scottsdale, Ariz.

Dear Heloise: Wet a washcloth and put it in a plastic sandwich bag and carry it with you in your purse while traveling by car, train, plane or whatever. It is wonderful. Works great for getting that newsprint off your hands. - Patricia Ellis, Houston
