Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: I am responding to the request you made in our local paper, The State (Columbia, S.C.), for unique uses for old marbles.

I buy inexpensive wooden picture frames up to the 5-by-8-inch size and paint them to match a certain room or decor and glue marbles on the frame. The marbles can be all one color or mixed and matched, depending on decor or if it is for a boy or a girl.

Glue some to the bottom of the stuffing of a doll or toy animal or any craft where stuffing is used. They help it stand erect.

Use to fill the inside of a lamp base when putting together a do-it-yourself lamp. - Mary Whitehead, Lexington, S.C.

Dear Heloise: Decorative towels and soaps should be used! How else can you buy new ones when you see some you like even better than the older ones? - Arlene Frehan, Clearwater, Fla.
