Hints From Heloise
Dear Heloise: Will you please reprint a hint you ran in your column a while back? It was about a solution of vinegar and water to rinse your hair with to clean it of deposits from hair spray. S.D., New Orleans
The old-fashioned solution you are probably thinking of helps remove the soapy film from hair. All you need to do is mix 1 cup of water and 1 tablespoon of household vinegar.
After shampooing and rinsing your hair, pour on the solution, then rinse well with water.
If you want to remove the buildup from hair-styling products, such as hair spray and gels, use a mixture of 2 tablespoons baking soda to 1 cup water. Wet your hair, then pour on the solution, but do not rinse. Add the shampoo and work it in all together. Rinse your hair well and it should be squeaky clean. - Heloise
