Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: Here’s a cold-weather auto tip that may seem obvious, but you’d be surprised how many people don’t follow it.

Many of us have two cars but our driveway is only one-car wide or we park parallel on the street. In the winter, always park your cars nose to nose instead of one behind the other facing front or back. In the event that you need to jump-start one car with another, the hoods/engines are next to one another and ready to go. This tip has already helped me out twice this year! - Teri, St. Louis

Dear Heloise: After writing out your checks for bills each month, take an extra couple of minutes and record the check number, date paid and the amount of the payment on the envelopes the bills come in. This way, you have a quick and easy reference if anything arises. - Grace L., Garland, Texas
