John Smoltz, the N.L. Cy Young Award winner, would prefer to stay with the Braves, but says he won’t take less money to do so.

The Seattle Mariners have claimed utility infielder Dave Silvestri off waivers from the Montreal Expos.

The 30-year-old Silvestri batted .204 with one home run and 17 RBI in 86 games with Montreal this past season.
