Second Hearing Set For School Building
A second public hearing will be held regarding the Coeur d’Alene School District’s proposed support services building.
The hearing is set for 7 p.m. Dec. 9 at the administration building, 311 N. 10th St. It was scheduled because the proposal has been changed, in part because of concerns aired at the first hearing earlier this month.
For example, construction costs increased from $1.4 million to $1.5 million after some people complained that the original pole-frame design would not be durable. A steel-frame building now is planned.
The support services building would include bus facilities, storage, maintenance shops and administration offices.
It would be paid for with money now spent on rent, and other savings, administrators say. It would not require an increase in taxes, but would need approval by a judge who must declare it a necessary expense.
