Paralyzed Isu Player Heads Home

Associated Press

To the cheers of nearly 300 Idaho State students, fans, faculty and friends, Marcus Jackson finally got to go home Tuesday.

The senior cornerback was paralyzed Sept. 21 making a tackle against a Western Montana College player. He broke two vertebrae in his neck and at first was paralyzed from the shoulders down but has made some recovery.

Jackson will undergo rehabilitation at St. Joseph’s Hospital in his hometown of Denver.

Hundreds of people lined the parking lot outside Bannock Regional Medical Center to show support for Jackson as he was put into an ambulance and escorted through the crowd by three police cars on his way to the airport.

Many chanted “Marcus, Marcus” and some waved banners.
