Term Limits Group Racks Up Spending Tab
The group promoting an initiative to pressure Congress into accepting term limits has spent nearly $150,000 on the campaign.
A campaign finance report filed with the secretary of state’s office on Friday showed Citizens for Federal Term Limits has raised $157,407 so far this year and spent $146,416 through Sept. 30.
The organization had a balance of $10,991 at the end of the latest reporting period.
Contributions included $10,000 from a Colorado term limits group and $5,000 each from Tony and Gary Paquin of Coeur d’Alene, Basic American Foods of Blackfoot and Hecla Mining Co., Coeur d’Alene.
Donna Weaver of Hayden Lake, a major backer of the effort, made loans totaling more than $32,000 in the latest period but was repaid $10,000 on Sept. 17.
Citizens for Federal Term Limits spent $11,829 with a Colorado signature-gathering company and $19,656 with Thompson Communications, Marshfield, Mo., for advertising.
