Few Change Minds

Knight-Ridder

A poll done by ABC immediately after Sunday’s presidential debate showed 56 percent of Americans intend to vote for President Clinton, 41 percent for Bob Dole and 2 percent for Ross Perot.

Those numbers showed a slight shift from a poll done before the debate, which showed 51 percent for Clinton, 39 percent for Dole and 6 percent for Perot.

An instant poll by CBS showed 50 percent thought Clinton had won, 28 percent thought Dole won and 17 percent thought it was a tie.

It also showed that 92 percent of the respondents said the debate would not change their opinion of the candidates.

Two percent said they would switch to Clinton and 2 percent said they would switch to Dole.
