Michael Plaster Sagle, Idaho

Rosary for Michael K. “Mike” Plaster, 55, will be today at Coffelt’s Moon Chapel in Sandpoint. Christian Burial Mass will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Sandpoint. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Coffelt Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Plaster, who was born in Dover, Idaho, died Sunday in a logging accident near Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

He graduated from high school in Sandpoint. He worked for the McFarland Pole Co. and then established Sandcreek Wood Products at Colburn in 1975.

Mr. Plaster was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Elks Lodge and had worked with the Bonner County boxing program.

Survivors include his wife, Linda; four sons, Robert Plaster of Sagle, John Plaster of Spokane, Leonard Plaster of Coeur d’Alene and Dean Plaster of Oregon; a daughter, Michelle Pearlstein of Seattle; and eight grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Michael K. Plaster Trust Fund at the Sandpoint branch of U.S. Bank.

Evelyn O’Coyne Spokane

Vigil service for Evelyn L. O’Coyne, 83, will be at 7 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is set for 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Rockford.

Born in Rockford, Mrs. O’Coyne died Sunday.

She graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School and lived in the Rockford, and Fairfield areas for most of her life.

She and her husband owned and operated a grocery store in Fairfield, and she worked as a bookkeeper for Farmers and Merchants Bank in Rockford until 1951, and as a bookkeeper at McDonald Sawmill, Fiber Form Boats and the Gateway Hotel in Spokane.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Valley Eagles Lodge No. 3433.

Her husband, Hosea, died in 1965.

She is survived by a son, Douglas O’Coyne of Spokane; a daughter: Carol Ness of Veradale; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fairview Cemetery.

Gerald Price Avon, Idaho

Service for Gerald O. Price, 75, will be at 1 p.m. today at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Palouse, Wash. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Palouse. Kramer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Price died Thursday at Latah Health Services in Moscow, Idaho.

He was born in Viola, Idaho, and graduated from Palouse High School.

He enlisted in the Navy in 1941 and was in the Pacific during the attack on Pearl Harbor. He served as an aviation machinist first class and was discharged in 1947.

Mr. Price returned to Latah County following the war and purchased a farm near Avon. He farmed, raised cattle and operated a dairy until he partially retired in 1981. He continued to raise cattle and grow hay on his farm. He entered a care center in Moscow last August.

Survivors include a sister, Genevieve Gilder of Stockton, Calif.

Laura Streit Spokane

Graveside service for Laura A. Streit, 100, will be at 2 p.m. today at Pines Cemetery. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Streit, who died Saturday, was born in Dabney, Ark.

She lived for 70 years in Opportunity, after moving there from Coeur d’Alene.

She married John Streit in 1912. He died in 1969.

She was involved with starting the hot lunch program in the Central Valley School District and worked with the program until she retired in 1961.

She was a member of garden clubs, the Royal Neighbors of America and Pines Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, John Streit of Spokane; and two daughters, Margie Gross of Spokane and Martha Knauss of Cocolalla, Idaho.

Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children in Spokane.

Helen (Piper) Rodkey Spokane

Service for Helen E. (Piper) Rodkey, 100, will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Post Falls Community Presbyterian Church. Internment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rodkey, who was born in Irving, Kan., died Saturday.

She taught music in the public school system in Kansas and Colorado prior to moving to Post Falls in 1934. She moved to Brighton Court in Spokane in 1994.

She had taught English in the Post Falls School District for several years. She had also worked as a private piano teacher and was the organistpianist and choir director of the Community Presbyterian Church in Post Falls.

Mrs. Rodkey was runner-up in the Idaho State Mother of the Year Contest in 1969.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vern, in 1971.

Survivors include four sons, Grant Rodkey of Boston, F. Lee Rodkey of Maryland, George Rodkey of Post Falls and John Rodkey of Spokane; two daughters, Elizabeth McNeal of Pullman and Kathryn Russell of Spokane; 21 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Community Presbyterian Church or Whitworth College in Spokane.

Sherwood Swan II Colfax, Wash.

Memorial service for Sherwood Bertram Swan II, 77, was Tuesday at Community Bible Church of Colfax.

Mr. Swan died Saturday at Whitman Hospital.

He was born in Racine, Wis., and graduated from high school there.

He graduated from the University of California-Berkeley with a degree in paleontology.

He was involved with archeological digs throughout the United States in the 1940s while working for the University of California. He spent some time in Peru, where he was married briefly and where his daughter, Alicia, was born.

He later lived in Madison, Wis., attended the University of Wisconsin and worked at Madison Hospital.

In 1953 he married Alice Rader in Spokane.

They operated a nursing home in Spokane for a few years before they moved to Osburn, Idaho, where Mr. Swan worked for Bunker Hill Mining as a chemist.

They lived in Colfax from 1970 to 1981. They moved to Western Washington before returning to Colfax in April.

His wife died in May.

Mr. Swan was a member of the Alumni Association of the University of California-Berkeley.

Survivors include two daughters, Alicia Pinto of Florida and Kalea Swan of Edmonds, Wash.; a son, Ross Swan of Steptoe, Wash.; eight granddaughters and one great-grandson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Whitman Hospital Foundation or the Whitman Convalescent Center, both in Colfax.

Suzanna ‘Susie’ Weisz Sandpoint

Mass of Christian Burial for Suzanna “Suzie” Weisz, 82, will be held today at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Sandpoint. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint. Coffelt Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Weisz, who was born in Brestovatz, Yugoslavia, died Sunday.

She grew up in Yugoslavia and moved to America in 1932. She settled on a farm north of the Kootenai area and moved to Sandpoint in 1959.

She had worked at Don’s Drive-In, cooked for the Bonner County School District and assisted the priests at St. Joseph’s.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Mrs. Weisz was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, in 1959.

Survivors include three sons, Paul Weisz of Maryland, Frank Weisz of Silverdale, Wash., and Thomas Weisz of California; one daughter, Christine Jurun of Tacoma; one brother, Simon Zellenkowitsch of Germany; one sister, Kathi Bitsch of Germany; and 14 grandchildren.
