Hingis Wins First Tennis Tournament

Martina Hingis, the 16-year-old Swiss who has become one of the rising stars in tennis, won her first WTA tournament title by defeating Anke Huber 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 in the $450,000 Porsche Grand Prix in Filderstadt, Germany.

Britain’s Greg Rusedski beat Martin Damm of the Czech Republic 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 in a final between two unseeded players in the $328,000 Beijing Open in China.

Boris Becker, seeded fifth, won his first tournament since June, beating unseeded Dutchman Jan Siemerink 6-4, 6-7 (7-9), 6-2, 6-3 to take the $800,000 CA Trophy in Vienna, Austria.
