Grant Facing Suit

Compiled From Wire Services

A woman has filed a $451,500 sexual assault lawsuit in Portland, Ore., against former Trail Blazers forward Harvey Grant, claiming he exposed himself and asked her to perform sodomy.

Grant, now with the Washington Bullets, shook his head from side to side when asked Monday about the lawsuit filed by Nikii Davis, a Portland masseuse.

“It will all be taken care of in time,” said Grant, who was traded to Washington on July 15. “I don’t have any other comment.”

According to the lawsuit, Davis said she gave Grant massages at his Portland home between November 1993 and November 1995.

Davis claims that Grant exposed himself to her last November.

Wally Scales, the first black to hold a job in any NBA team’s front office, has resigned after 24 years as the Portland Trail Blazer’s all-purpose manager, including major roles in public and community relations and game operations. The only black vice president in Blazers history, Scales said he was leaving on good terms. But friends say he felt passed over and overlooked, and he worried about the rapidly changing management’s commitment to fans.

Scales has purchased the Couch Street Fish House restaurant in Portland and he also plans in March to open a 13,000-square foot jazz club and sports bar in the heart of downtown, just across the Willamette River from the Blazers’ Rose Garden arena.
