49ers’ Stokes Out For Year?

Injured wide receiver J.J. Stokes’ appears headed for surgery, and his season could be over, 49ers coach George Seifert said.

Team doctors have recommended surgery. Stokes is getting a second opinion, but Seifert expects the final result to be surgery.

“Unfortunately it appears that that’s going to be the case,” Seifert said. “It’s not 100 percent, but it’s pretty much the case. This is a much more serious and long-time injury than we initially expected.”
