Hints From Heloise
Dear Heloise: I recently had an accident in my office. To make a long story short, is there a way to remove correction fluid from shirts, pants and silk ties (shirt and pants 50 percent cotton, 50 percent rayon)? - F.R., Newark, N.J.
It may be too late. We contacted a correction fluid manufacturer and here’s what they had to say. Since most correction fluid is similar to oil-based paint, they recommend taking the stained garments to the dry cleaner. This is very important, especially if the garment is dry clean only. Make sure to tell the counterperson where and what the stain is and how long it has been there. Hopefully, with their spotting chemicals, they should be able to remove it. Unfortunately, there’s no safe, home-style remedy that’s recommended for you to try. - Heloise
