B Soccer Playoffs Kick Off

For local Class B schools without football teams, this is the time of year to rally around the futbol team.

Bi-County League boys soccer playoffs begin today with No. 3 Northwest Christian (2-2-2) at No. 2 Valley Christian (3-1-2). The other loser-out match is Friday, with league champion St. George’s (4-0-2) at home against Northport (0-6-0).

The winners play Nov. 8 at the highest seed. That outcome will determine placement into Nov. 15-16 playoff matches at Kennewick against Wahluke and Sunnyside Christian of District 5.

NWC beat Wahluke last year to advance to state and place fourth. The Crusaders hope for the return of top scorer Matt Heeter, who sprained his ankle Oct. 21 during a loss to VC. Heeter, who has scored 20 goals in 11 matches, used crutches until last Wednesday.

VC hadn’t beaten the Crusaders during coach Ray Underwood’s three years at NWC.
