Baseball Talks Resume

Compiled From Wire Services

Baseball’s long-running labor talks were resumed after a week-long break.

Union head Donald Fehr and management negotiator Randy Levine were to meet, their first session since Aug. 26. Fehr was due to return to New York late in the day following meetings in Toronto.

When they last met, they agreed that the three major outstanding issues were service time for the 75 regular-season days wiped out by the strike, the structure of the union’s option year in 2001 and management’s demand that players agree to three-man panels for salary arbitration.
