Developer Wants To Join Pasadena Park Water District

From Staff Reports

The developer of a proposed Spokane Valley subdivision has filed notice with the Boundary Review Board that he intends to annex the area to the Pasadena Park Irrigation district.

The Boundary Review Board will hear a brief presentation about the project at its Sept. 9 meeting. The meeting begins at 3 p.m. in the hearing room of the county Public Works Building, 1026 W. Broadway.

Affected parties have until Sept. 27 to request that the board invoke its jurisdiction. But Susan Winchell of the Boundary Review Board said she does not expect any resistance.

“This is a development that’s consistent with all of the plans,” Winchell said.

Developer Tony Heaton received permission in February 1995 to subdivide 18.6 acres into 39 single family lots.

The land is located east of Ella Street and south of Francis Avenue.

If the proposed annexation is approved, it would bring water to the subdivision.

Painting fun

Kids in the YMCA’s Valley summer program put paint and ingenuity to good use, creating a mural at Valley Mission Park.

An underwater scene swims on the wall at the west end of the pool. About 30 teens participated, said youth director Kuray Arland. The project taught participants about more than painting; the teens had to make a formal proposal to county recreation manager Randy Johnson.

“They dedicated it to all the kids in the Valley,” Arland said.

Eagle Hardware donated the paint.

Hutton Settlement dedication

The Hutton Settlement board of trustees is hosting a ceremony at 3 p.m. Sunday to dedicate dozens of windows that were replaced during the past several months.

Pella Windows Co. was the primary donor to the project, contributing windows and labor to the project. Several other donations also were received.

The task of replacing the 54 windows is nearly completed.

All of the windows were declared to be historically accurate by the local Historic Preservation office, said Marilyn Stocker, a Hutton Settlement board member. The Hutton Settlement is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
