Hints From Heloise
Dear Heloise: I’ve been ordering checks for my checking account through some of the discount mail order companies. One day I called my bank, which has an automated system, to see what checks had come in and none of the check numbers corresponded with the numbers I had written in my check register.
At a complete loss, I spoke with a bank teller and explained the situation. We checked several things and finally she asked me what the numbers on the very bottom of the check were (past where the account number is listed). The number listed was 1234 and the number in the righthand corner of the check was 2234! Problem solved! - Louise Silvas, Peyton, Colo.
Wow! Never thought of checking to be sure the numbers were the same. So, readers, when ordering checks be sure to check your address, phone number, account number and check numbers! I hope this will save someone else from going through this same hassle. - Heloise
