Yakima Rangeland Fires Extinguished
Lightning sparked three separate fires in Yakima County, scorching more than 17,000 acres of grass and sagebrush before they were extinguished Thursday.
The fires began shortly before midnight Wednesday on two ranches. They were contained about noon Thursday, according to a dispatcher at Yakima Fire District 5 in Sunnyside.
No buildings were damaged and no one was injured. But one ranch lost 30 to 40 tons of straw.
