Forum On School-To-Work Effort At Lake City High On Tuesday
“Realizing the Dream,” an open house designed to explain school-to-work efforts in Kootenai County, will be held Tuesday evening.
The event is scheduled from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Lake City High School, 6106 Ramsey Road, Coeur d’Alene.
Parents, students, employers and educators from throughout the county are invited, said Bob Henniger, regional coordinator of school-to-work programs.
Such programs are designed to prepare kindergarten through high school students for employment. Younger children learn of career opportunities. In later grades, they experience jobs first-hand through internships, occupation-related classes and the like.
On Tuesday, Henniger will explain the history, purpose and funding of the program in Idaho.
A panel of educators and business people will discuss the program, and people will learn how they can get involved.
The event has been scheduled during School to Work Week. A related PBS special, “Jobs: The Class of 2000,” will be broadcast in the schools and televised at 1 p.m. Tuesday on KSPS Channel 7.
