Quake Shakes Philippine Island

A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 struck Friday off the northeastern coast of the Philippine island of Mindanao, the Royal Hong Kong Observatory reported.

A statement said the quake occurred at 12:15 p.m. and was centered in the ocean about 170 miles east-southeast of the city of Cebu. There were no reports of damage or injury.
