Red Mass Planned At St. Aloysius

The Very Rev. William Skylstad, bishop of the Spokane Catholic Diocese, will preside over the Mass. The Rev. Edward Glynn, president of GU, will deliver the homily.
The term Red Mass dates to 14th-century England, when members of the legal profession, dressed in red robes, attended a yearly Mass to ask for God’s blessing and guidance.
After the Mass, the 1996 Distinguished Judicial Awards will be presented to graduates of Gonzaga School of Law and posthumously to Spokane County Superior Court Judges John J. Ripple and Marcus M. Kelly.
A reception will follow at 6 p.m. at Cataldo Hall, next to the church.
