Tragedy Strikes Auto Race

Compiled From Wire Services

A father-son weekend outing ended in the death of 4-year-old Christopher Hodge, killed by a flying wheel at Rockford Speedway. Spectators at the Rockford Speedway watched Sunday as the wheel assembly of a speeding stock car broke loose and hurtled into the grandstand, striking the boy from Janesville, Wis., and injuring two others.

The 4-year-old had been sitting in front of his father, Aaron, 23, and caught the impact of the wheel as it careened off an unoccupied baby stroller.
