Maybe This Time Spike Should Do The Right Thing

Compiled By Staff Writer Dan Web

Spike Lee is so adamantly committed to exploring the African-American experience that he often is accused of being anti-white.

As he has said more than once, however, he just doesn’t give much thought to white America. Besides, when it comes to a certain segment of the population, he’s distinctly color-blind.

We know that because Lee has barred black movie critic Armond White from screenings of his newest film, “Get On the Bus.” Lee apparently doesn’t like the fact that White, who reviews for GQ magazine, hasn’t liked anything he has directed since “Do the Right Thing.”

“His decision is especially troublesome on this film,” says White, “since it’s supposed to be about black solidarity.”

Robin Leach, of “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” fame, recently made a stop in Akron, Ohio. After tasting his first local delicacy - a sauerkraut ball made of pork loin, ham and sauerkraut, breaded and deep fried - he turned food critic. “It’s very, ah, Akron,” he said.

According to Travis, all one needs is discretion and an “unconflicted need to really want privacy.”

Sample tabloid headline: Ex-Beatle exposes the Dead

Paul McCartney directed a nine-minute film about the Grateful Dead based on some photos that his wife, Linda, took of the band in the 1960s. “If Andy Warhol can film the Empire State Building for three hours,” the ex-Beatle said, “I figure I can do something with four rolls of film.”
