Fly fishing

The Oct. 5 Fly Fishing Fair and banquet, sponsored by the Kelly Creek Fly Casters in Clarkston, Wash., will feature a fly-tying contest with prizes ranging from $50-$100. Entries require a pattern to be tied on three different hook sizes mounted on foam in a box.

Send entries to Leroy Hyatt, 1714 Burrell Ave., Lewiston, ID 83501 by Oct. 5. Categories include dry flies, wet and steelhead flies with a separate category for Atlantic Salmon flies (only one fly size needed) for the $100 prize.

Fair events run from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. followed by dinner at the Quality Inn in Clarkston. Featured fly tyer is author Joe Humphreys.
