Dear Heloise: I bought a box of vinyl tiles at an “as is” table sale. The colors were right and I thought I could use them to tile an entryway.

But I should have read the label, as they are wall tiles and too thin for a floor. My husband suggested I use them to line the pantry shelves. What a serendipitous idea. I lined not only the pantry shelves but kitchen drawers and cupboards as well.

They look great, wipe clean with a damp cloth and, best of all, there’s no more awkward-fitting shelf paper. - Boneda Elick, Godfrey, Ill.
