Nic Splits Doubleheader, Taking Prairie 11-6 In Game 2

It was not a pitchers’ day as North Idaho College split a baseball doubleheader with Prairie Baseball Academy from Lethbridge, Alberta, on Monday in Coeur d’Alene.

Prairie hammered 11 hits in a 10-3 win in the opener, while Paul Wilson and Al Bevacqua sparked a 12-hit NIC attack that produced an 11-6 victory in the nightcap.

Prairie’s Zach Murray kept the NIC bats in check in the first game, pitching six innings with seven strike-outs. Nate Lynch homered for NIC.

In the second game, Wilson was 3 for 4 with two RBIs and Bevacqua had a double and solo home run and scored twice for the Cardinals (8-7).

Golf

The Highlands Golf and Country Club in Post Falls is open for the 1997 season on permanent greens.

Softball

Rainie Drake’s first homer sparked Shadle Park to an 8-7 GSL win over Lewis and Clark at Hart Field.
