Ferris Hammers Second Foe With A 17-2 Victory Over Cv

Through two games, Ferris has staked a serious claim toward defending its Greater Spokane League baseball title.

Jim Gewalt allowed three hits and no earned runs in six innings Friday as the Saxons (2-0) manhandled visiting Central Valley 17-2. Ferris has outscored GSL rivals 27-2.

The Bears (1-2) joined Ferris last year as the GSL’s representatives to the Region IV tournament. But CV is still waiting for the return of ace pitcher Erick Eigenhuis, who has an injured right shoulder and hopes to pitch Tuesday.

For Ferris, Joel Soter went 3 for 5 with three runs batted in and Chris Schuchart launched a nine-run third inning with a two-run double.
