Lake City Harmonizers Receive Service Award
The Lake City Harmonizers have received the 1996 Bronze Harmony Foundation service award for their $18.93 per capita cash contributions toward local and organizational service projects. The award came from the Evergreen District of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America.
The Harmonizers were honored for their support of local nonprofit organizations and for providing quality, affordable family entertainment.
Dwight Schmidt, a sophomore at the University of North Dakota and son of LeRoy and Sheila Schmidt of Hauser Lake, recently made the Deans List for first semester with a 3.8 grade point average.
Schmidt is a 1995 graduate of Lakeland High School in Rathdrum.
Two local youths were honored March 29 a awards breakfast put on by the State Conference of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) at Templin’s Resort in Post Falls. Students and their awards follow.
Blake Hodgin, a ninth grader at Moscow Junior High School, received a first-place certificate as winner of the American History Category with his essay entry, “Christopher Columbus and Amerigo Vespucci, Men of Destiny.”
Coeur d’Alene High School senior Lucy Scantlebury received a medal and monetary award from the George Farragut Chapter of DAR for winning the local Good Citizen contest. Scantlebury also placed third in the Idaho Good Citizen contest.
Members of the Kootenai Electric Cooperative recently elected board members to serve three-year terms. Three of the seven board positions were up for elections with the results as follows:
Bill Boekel of Rathdrum was re-elected as board president to serve KEC District 1; Don Broadsword of Plummer was re-elected to serve KEC District 4; and Dale Peck of Bayview was elected to serve as a director-at-large.
