Urban Falcons Nesting

Birdwatching

Although the reports are unconfirmed by bird experts, several people have sighted what they think is a pair of peregrine falcons regularly hunting pigeons in downtown Spokane.

Meanwhile, Seattle’s famous peregrine falcon mother, Belle, has laid at least three eggs this spring in a nesting box atop the downtown’s 56-story Washington Mutual Tower.

Belle and her mate, Stewart, raised a brood in the same nest last year.

The nesting birds can be seen live on a large-screen color monitor in Washington Mutual’s Tower Financial Center, 1201 Third Ave.

Daily updates on the Seattle falcon family are on a recorded hotline at (206) 654-4423.
