Roy Hansen Colville, Wash.
Graveside service for Roy Stanley Hansen, a former Cheney resident, was Tuesday at Spokane Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Hansen, 83, died March 26.
He was born in Pincher Creek, Alberta. In 1928, his family sold their farm in Alberta and moved to Cheney.
He graduated from high school in Cheney and attended Cheney Normal College and Washington State University.
In 1937, while working for Ratcliff Ford in Cheney, he became Cheney’s youngest councilman. He was 24.
He purchased a hardware store, Cheney Hardware, the following year with a partner and operated it for 21 years.
During World War II, he served as police commissioner and owned the Cheney Laundry and Dry Cleaners.
In 1959, he sold his businesses and moved to Spokane. He was hired as the superintendent for the city of Cheney in 1961 and was involved in the development of Cheney’s first sewer treatment plant.
Mr. Hansen retired from the City of Cheney in 1973 and moved to a small ranch on Haller Creek until 1993, when he and his wife, Rosella, moved into Colville. He was a member of the Temple Masonic Lodge Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Teri Bybee of Colville; a son, Peter Hansen of Kenai, Alaska; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Sandra Pflugrath Peshastin, Wash.
Memorial service for Sandra Lee Pflugrath, 54, will be 2 p.m. today at Cashmere (Wash.) Grace Lutheran Church. Private family interment will be at Peshastin Cemetery. Ward’s Funeral Chapel in Leavenworth, Wash., is in charge of the arrangements.
Born in Seattle, Mrs. Pflugrath died Saturday. She was a graduate of Issaquah (Wash.) High School, and Central Washington State College where she earned her teaching degree in business education.
She worked as a public school teacher in the towns of Omak, Lyle and Lacrosse, Wash., and then substituted in the Hunters and Inchelium, Wash., areas. She also taught Sunday school at Vacation Bible School.
Her memberships included Grace Lutheran Church in Cashmere, and Naomi Circle.
She is survived by her husband, Fred; two daughters, Angela Pflugrath of Peshastin and Alissa Howes of Spokane; her mother, Ellen Delaurenti of Renton, Wash.; a brother, Mick Santa of Bellevue; and two sisters, Dolores Malina of Kaneohe, Hawaii, and Daisy Stryker of Morgan Hills, Calif.
Memorial contributions may be made to Cashmere Grace Lutheran Church, or Alpine Boys Ranch in Leavenworth.
Louwanna ‘Deannie’ Hester Spokane
Memorial service for Louwanna R. ‘Deannie’ Hester, 71, will be 2 p.m. today at Manito United Methodist Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Hester, who was born in Bellingham, died Friday.
She was a homemaker and a 50-year member of Manito United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, William; a son, Len Hester of Spokane; three daughters, Charlotte Stone of Spokane, Doreen Hester of San Diego and Jeannie Boese of Roseburg, Ore.; a brother, Ronald Eugene of Puyallup, Wash.; a sister, Evelyn Haggith of Bellingham; and five grandsons.

Helen Olson Spokane
Service for Helen A. Olson, 81, was Monday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Interment followed at Pines Cemetery. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Olson, a 46-year Spokane resident, died Thursday.
She was a graduate of Rogers High School and owned Helen’s House of Beauty until retirement in 1972.
Mrs. Olson was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
She is survived by two sons, David and Dan Olson, both of Spokane, and five grandchildren.

Joseph Clark Greenacres
Service for Joseph S. Clark, 86, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home.
Mr. Clark, who was born in Tum Tum, Wash., died Thursday.
He worked at Blue Bell Dairy in Spokane, then Siverson Brothers Sawmill until World War II. He worked at the Galena Air Deport during the war doing precision work on B-29s, B-25s, B-17s and B-36s.
He later went to work for the Spokane County Road Department as a supervisor for the Valley district until retirement after 18 years.
He helped organize the Moab Water District and served on the board of directors. He was a member of Concordia Lodge No. 249 in Millwood, the Scottish Rite, Magnolia Chapter No. 194, Order of Eastern Star and Opportunity Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Harris Clark, in 1993.
Survivors include a daughter, Maxine Caldwell of Newman Lake, Wash.; a brother, K. Dale Clark of Spokane; two sisters, Ethel Ottosen and Olive Ottosen, both of Fairfield; two grandsons and two great-grandsons.

George ‘Denny’ Dawson Deer Park

Mr. Dawson, who was born in Priest River, Idaho, died Saturday.
He was a member of Boy Scouts of America as a scout leader, a coach for Little League baseball in Chattaroy, a guardian ad litem for Spokane County Juvenile Court in Spokane, the supervisory board for Catholic Credit Union, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Deer Park, Eagles Lodge Aerie No. 2, Good Sam Club, Class A 4 and Tag-a-Long Recreational Vehicle Club.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Karen Kay; a son, Jeffrey Dawson of Spokane; a daughter, Jodi Hauck of Spokane; two sisters, Janice Blank of Spokane and Beverly Stewart of Deer Park; and two granddaughters.

Ruby Iliff Deer Lake, Wash.
Service for Ruby Cason Iliff, 87, will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Riverside Chapel, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Interment will be at Woodland Cemetery in Deer Park. Lauer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Parawan, Utah, Mrs. Iliff died Thursday.
She was instrumental in the organization of the South Central Idaho Chapter of the Genealogical Society while in Twin Falls, Idaho. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Clayton Ward.
Her husband, Orlo, preceded her in death in 1980.
Mrs. Iliff is survived by a son, Daniel Iliff of Deer Lake; three sisters, Mary Cason Taft of La Cresenta, Calif., Georgia Benson of Wickenburg, Ariz., and Lucille Johnson of Salt Lake City; a brother, Paul Cason of Cedar City, Utah; and nine grandchildren.
Florence Irwin Spokane
Funeral services for Florence M. Irwin, 97, were held Monday at Central Seventh Day Adventist Church. Interment was at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Irwin, who was born in Osekas, Minn., died Thursday.
She was a member of Central Seventh Day Adventist Church and worked at Deaconess Medical Center in central services.
She is survived by a niece, Marion Schneider of Cle Elum, Wash.

Mrs. Belieu, a 50-year resident of Spokane, died Saturday.
Mrs. Belieu worked as a waitress for various restaurants.
She is survived by two sons, James Wellwood of Kent, Wash., and Joseph Belieu of Spokane; two daughters, Sharon Anderson of San Diego and Karen Saccomanno of Spokane; a brother, Julius Steffen of Spokane; a sister, Dorothy Doerkson of Canada; and four grandchildren.
Cora ‘Corky’ Young Spokane

A lifetime resident of Spokane, she died Saturday.

Minnie Shephard Spokane
Service for Minnie Isabelle (Hadley) Shephard, 96, was Monday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Private burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Born in Mondovi, Wis., Mrs. Shephard died Thursday.
Her family moved to Waverly, Wash., in 1902, and she graduated from high school in Sandpoint.
In 1938, she married Wilbur Shephard and they settled in Spokane.
She had worked for the telephone company for 32 years.
She was a member of the Brotherhood of Friends, Order of the Eastern Star, American Legion Post 15 and the Telephone Pioneers of America Chapter 47.
Her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Arlene Leithauser of Spokane; and a brother, Oscar “Bud” Hadley of Sandpoint.
Delma Ruegsegger Spokane
Visitation for Delma Morgan Ruegsegger, 77, will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ward 15. Interment will be in Malad City, Idaho.
Mrs. Ruegsegger, who was born in Malad City, died Saturday.
She was a graduate of Malad City High School and a member of Cowbells.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, R. John Ruegsegger; four sons, Ralph Ruegsegger of Santa Barbara, Calif., Loudon Ruegsegger of Dillon, Mont., John Ruegsegger of Seattle, and Dewer Ruegsegger of Spokane; two daughters, Janice Cleverley of Ennis, Mont., and Linda Coplen of Spokane; a sister, Theda Hill of Mackay, Idaho; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Plybon, who was born in Tekoa, Wash., died March 29.

She is survived by a daughter, Virginia Gusdorf of Spokane; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Dorothy Creasman Spokane

Mrs. Cresman, who was born Tekoa, Wash., died Friday.
She was a member of the First Church of the Open Bible and taught Sunday school there.
Mrs. Creasman is survived by a son, James Creasman of Spokane; two sisters, Elaine Grassell and Mable Walton; two brothers, Arthur Higbee and Herbert Higbee; and a granddaughter.
Aubrey Barry Spokane

Mr. Barry, who was born in Kalispell, Mont., died Thursday.
He worked as a logger, farmer and in general maintenance for Diamond Lake Resort. He served in the Army during World War II.
Survivors include three sisters, Evalyn Kendrick of Spokane, Vivian Francis of Dothan, Ala., and Eloise Eckhardt of Corvallis, Ore.; and a brother, Ronald Barry of Spokane.
Clarence ‘Hal’ Halvorson Spokane

Mr. Halvorson, who was born in Aneta, N.D., died Friday.
He retired in 1979 after working for URM Stores, Inc. for 28 years.
He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Warehousemen Local Union No. 582.
Mr. Halvorson is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pearl; two sons, Tom Halvorson of Spokane and Dana Halvorson of Enumclaw, Wash.; a brother, Thorlive Halvorson of Spokane; a sister, Gladys Carpenter of Spokane; and three grandchildren.

Arthur ‘Art’ Duncan Spokane

Mr. Duncan, who was born in Spokane, died Friday.
He is a graduate of Lewis and Clark High School and Washington State University.
He worked as manager of Portland Safe Company until he moved back to Spokane. He owned and operated Spokane Safe and Lock Company. Mr. Duncan’s memberships include El Katif Shrine, Shrine Mounted Patrol, Spokane Riding Club, Spokane Driving Association, Spokane Blue Lodge, Parkose Lodge No. 31, Lions, Kiwanis, Eagles and Optimists.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Ann; a son, Michael Duncan of Coeur d’ Alene; a brother, Bob Duncan of Spokane; and four grandchildren.
Dorothy Rogers Spokane
Service for Dorothy Rogers, 78, will be 1 p.m. April 19 at the Crescent Bar Resort in Trinidad, Wash. Telford’s Chapel of the Valley in East Wenatchee, Wash. is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Wenatchee, Mrs. Rogers died Thursday.
She was a graduate of Wenatchee High School and helped operate an apple orchard in the Three Lakes area with her husband Paul. They later moved to Spokane where they operated service stations for Mobil and Chevron oil companies.
Her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Paula Terris of Spokane; two sons, James Rogers of Reno, Nev., and Terry Rogers of East Wenatchee; 10 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Bernice Gist Spokane

She was a homemaker and a member of Central Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Ray; two sons, Craig Gist of Seattle and Rick Gist of Spokane; two brothers, Ernest and Marvin Gulsrud, both of Spokane; a sister, Doris Swanson of Spokane; and three grandchildren.

Ivan Flyckt Chewelah, Wash.
No service will be held for Ivan A. Flyckt, 87, at his request. Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Chewelah is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Flyckt, who was born in Spokane, died Thursday.
He was a longtime Chewelah resident and worked at the Thermax plant in Chewelah, and from 1952 to 1972, for the Stevens County road department.
His wife of 58 years, Clara, died last June.
He is survived by two sons, Jerry Flyckt of Chewelah and Lonnie Flyckt of Clayton, Wash.; a daughter, Janice Burya of Chewelah; two brothers, Leroy and Nelse Flyckt, both of Chewelah; five grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
