Former New York Islanders defenseman David Langevin has been named the first head coach of the expansion Idaho Steelheads, which begin West Coast Hockey League play this fall.

Langevin, 42, played for the Islanders from 1979 to 1985, helping them win four consecutive Stanley Cup championships from 1980 through 1983.
