Mary Holland Rathdrum, Idaho

Service for Mary Louise Zrelak Holland, 62, will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Holy Names Music Building at Mukogawa Fort Wright Institute. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Ms. Holland, who was born in New Castle, Pa., died April 2.

She was a graduate of Mercy College of Nursing in San Diego. She received a bachelor of science degree in nursing from the University of San Diego and a master’s degree from Seattle University.

Ms. Holland worked as a surgical nurse in San Diego and as a nursing instructor at San Diego Mesa College and Highline College in Seattle. She also was director of student health services at Highline College and a certified family nurse practitioner.

She was an adjunct faculty member for programs at Seattle Pacific University and University of Washington. She served as president of Washington College Health Association and Pacific Coast College Health Association, and as executive director of the Pacific Coast College Health Association. She also was president of Federal Way (Wash.) Women’s Network and was on the Twin Lakes Association board and board of directors of Community Health Clinic of King County. She was a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

Survivors include her husband of 23 years, Alan Torgerson; three daughters, Gina Holland, Gwenn Robison and Gail Littlefield; two stepdaughters, Karen Hibbert and Gayle Hunt; a stepson, David Torgerson; her mother, Kathryn Zrelak; two brothers, Ted and Steve Zrelak; and five grandchildren.

Lillian Monson Spokane

Memorial service for Lillian M. Monson, 85, will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Christ Lutheran Church. Inurnment will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene.

Mrs. Monson, who was born in Belgrade, Minn., died Sunday.

She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Coeur d’Alene, Christ Lutheran Church in Spokane and Rebekah Lodge in Coeur d’Alene.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Oscar; a son, Don Monson of Spokane; two daughters, Virginia Warren of Spokane and Maxine Martin of Hayden Lake, Idaho; a brother, Richard Larson of Pennsylvania; three sisters, Myrtle Engel, Cora Hollen and Elsie Hanson, all of Minnesota; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Eugene Winter Sr. St. Maries

Service for Eugene H. Winter Sr., 90, will be held today at 2 p.m. at YatesHodge Funeral Home in St. Maries. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries.

Mr. Winter, who was born in North Dakota, died Tuesday.

He grew up in Elk River, Idaho, and graduated from Elk River High School in 1924.

He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps and later the Milwaukee Railroad, supplying Hanford during World War II. Mr. Winter moved to Calder, Idaho, in the 1950s, where he lived until retiring in 1971.

He moved to St. Maries after his retirement and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Workers.

Mr. Winter was preceded in death by his wife, Anna, in 1987.

Survivors include six sons, Eugene Winter Jr. and Chuck Winter, both of St. Maries, Frederick Winter of Bovill, Idaho, William Winter of Olympia, Richard Winter of Rathdrum, Idaho, and Joseph Winter of Coeur d’Alene; a daughter, Merna Lewis of St. Maries; 25 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.

Timothy ‘Tugger’ Woods Osburn, Idaho

Graveside service for Timothy “Tugger” Woods, 45, will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Kellogg. Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Woods, who was born in Illinois, died Sunday.

He moved to the Silver Valley in 1975 from California and worked as a truck driver for Panhandle Paving.

Survivors include his wife, Lori; two sons, Shawn Woods of Nevada and Kevin Merrifield of Osburn; a daughter, Kelly Woods of Osburn; his father and stepmother, William and Karen Woods of Kellogg; his mother and stepfather, Shirley and Dave Savary of California; and three brothers, Rod Woods and Terry Woods, both of California, and Mark Woods of Idaho.

Shirley Prince Spokane

Service for Shirley (Lewis) Prince, 60, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Pines Cemetery. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Prince, who was born in Spokane, died Monday.

She was a homemaker, and was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, in 1988.

Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Parvey of Spokane; two sons, Terry and Dennis Parvey, both of Spokane; three stepdaughters, Jill Rogers, Sheila Clark and Cindy Kumpel, all of Spokane; two brothers, Darrell Lewis of Spokane and Curtis Lewis of Sparks, Nev.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Nancy Pohlman Ute, Iowa

Service for Nancy Ann Pohlman, 37, will be at 2 p.m. today at the United Methodist Church in Onawa, Iowa. Burial will be in the Jordan Cemetery in Soldier, Iowa. Armstrong Funeral Home in Ute is in charge of the arrangements.

Ms. Pohlman, who was born in Onawa, Iowa, died Monday.

She was a graduate of the Charter Oak-Ute Community School, Iowa State University and the University of Idaho law school.

Ms. Pohlman worked at the law library at the university while attending school. She was admitted to the bar in Idaho and Washington and practiced in Coeur d’ Alene and Spokane for 10 years. She moved to Ute in 1995.

She was active in volunteer legal services, served as president on the board of directors of the Idaho Legal Aid Services Inc., working primarily with families and women’s support services.

Her survivors include her parents, Howard and Hazel Pohlman of Ute; a sister, Connie King of Onawa; and three brothers, Harold Pohlman of Sioux Falls, S.D., Gary Pohlman of Soldier and John Pohlman of Ames, Iowa.

William Henchel Spokane

Memorial service for William R. Henchel, 69, will be at 4 p.m. today at Spokane Valley Baptist Church. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Henchel, who was born in Seattle, died Monday.

He served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of the Hillyard Veterans of Foreign Wars. He retired in June of 1996 as an apartment manager.

Mr. Henchel is survived by his wife, Betty Henchel; a son, Mark Henchel of Spokane; three daughters, Laurie Frazier of Mesa, Ariz., and Carol Seipp and Patty Hallinan, both of Spokane; a stepdaughter, Melinda Lauber of Spokane; two stepsons, Steve Mitchell and Dale Lauber, both of Spokane; a brother, Richard Henchel of Seattle; seven grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Marihazel Porter Spokane

Service for Marihazel Porter, 50, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Sunset Chapel in Fairmount Memorial Park. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Porter, who was born in Orofino, Idaho, died Monday.

She had worked as a bookkeeper for Northwest Bedding for 13 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Shelly Smith of Ione, Wash., and Melissa Gillen of Fort Hood, Texas; her parents, Everett and Hazel Freeman of Orofino; two brothers, Fenton and Tommy Freeman, both of Orofino; a sister, Sharon Brown of Weippe, Idaho; and six grandchildren.

Bert Russell Harrison, Idaho

Memorial service for Bert Russell, 88, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Harrison Grange Hall in Harrison. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Russell, who was born in Harrison, died Friday.

He worked as a logger and timber cruiser and during World War II he was an electrician at the Vancouver (Wash.) Shipyards. He later owned Russell Lumber Company in Springston, Idaho, and became a land developer and rancher. He authored five books.

Mr. Russell was a founding member of the Harrison Senior Citizens and Old Time Picnic. He was also a member of the Harrison Grange and the Unitarian Church.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marie; a daughter, Judy Russell of Coeur d’Alene; a son, Walter Russell of Grand Terrace, Calif.; a brother, Howard Russell of Vancouver; and a granddaughter.

Bev Bailey Naples, Idaho

Visitation for Bev Faye Bailey, 61, will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Service will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with a reception to follow at the Post Falls Baptist Church. Burial will be at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Bailey, who was born in South Dakota, died Sunday.

She attended schools in Wyoming, Kellogg and Wallace, and settled in Pinehurst, Idaho.

She later attended North Idaho College and moved to Naples in 1985. She had recently worked as an administrator for the Senior Hospitality Center.

Survivors include a special companion, Jim Waddell of Naples; two daughters, Debbie Schrader of Coeur d’Alene and Vickie Borley of Rathdrum, Idaho; her mother, Ella Quam of Coeur d’Alene; a brother, Roger Quam of Onaway, Idaho; a sister, Kay Stabnow of Wyoming; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Louise Hara Spokane

Memorial for Louise Knott Hara, 73, will be 2 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. A private inurnment will take place.

Born in Dickenson, N.D., she died Monday.

Mrs. Hara worked as a bookkeeper for 3M, and was a member of the Eagles Lodge Aerie No. 2 and the Corbin Community Center.

She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Walter; two brothers, Marcellus Knott of Spokane and Andre Knott of Rapid City, S.D.; and a sister, Donna Huddleston of Missouri.
