Lentz, Williamson Spark UW’s Sweep

College baseball

University of Washington’s Ryan Lentz had five RBIs in the opener, and Bryan Williamson had three RBIs and picked up the win in relief in the second game as the Huskies swept a Pacific-10 North double-header from the Cougars 15-6 and 9-4 at Bailey Field in Pullman.

Washington (24-11-1, 7-0) trailed 4-3 in the second game but scored six runs in the ninth inning to extend its winning streak to eight.

In the second game, Jason Hairston’s fifth home run of the year gave WSU (5-29, 1-6) a 3-0 edge after three innings. UW’s Dominic Woody hit a solo homer in the fifth to help forge a tie, but Hairston answered with an RBI single.

Williamson homered during UW’s ninth-inning rally.

Lentz singled, doubled, homered and scored three runs in the opener. The Huskies’ Ed Erickson had a two-run homer in the second.
