Fox’s ‘Martin’ Will End May 1
Martin Lawrence, whose public antics have generated more publicity of late than his acting work, won’t have to worry about his self-titled Fox sitcom for much longer.
The network has announced that the last episode of “Martin” will air May 1, as a one-hour series finale.
Word of the end comes just weeks after Lawrence was arrested for allegedly slugging a stranger in a Los Angeles nightclub. Last year, he made headlines when police said he fought with them after standing in a Los Angeles street screaming and carrying a pistol.
Also, series co-star Tisha Campbell recently slapped Lawrence with a sexual harassment suit. They’ve since settled their differences and she has returned to work on the final episodes.
“After five years with the series, I feel it’s time to move on,” Martin said in a statement.
