Park Gets Grant To Take Out Old Roads

From Staff And Wire Reports

A $50,000 grant will be used to help restore a mountain meadow at Sunrise, on the east side of Mount Rainier National Park.

The grant will be donated by the National Park Foundation. Park staff will take out old roads that wound through the former Sunrise car campground, and plant native vegetation.

The drive-in campground was closed in 1973. Access to the present campground is by foot.
