Recreation

Two-thirds of all Americans participate in outdoor recreation every year, and half do so at least monthly, according to a 1994 Roper Survey.

Which makes one wonder what the heck is wrong with a third of our country.

The study indicates that if you weren’t reared in a family that enjoyed the outdoors, you weren’t likely to appreciate it much yourself.

The survey also showed that American men and women have different preferences for outdoor recreation.

Fishing ranked the most popular activity among men, with 18 percent rating it tops compared with 7 percent of the women.

Swimming is the top choice of 12 percent of the women compared with 6 percent of the men.

Men are three times more likely than women to prefer golf; but women are three times more likely than men to like picnics.

An Idaho survey found that about half of the state’s residents are hunters and anglers. , DataTimes
