Cda Ballerinas Selected For Summer Programs
Four young ballerinas from the Coeur d’Alene School of Ballet were recently invited to attend summer programs with prestigious dance companies.
Several will study at the Pacific Northwest Ballet Company’s summer workshop in Seattle. Ashley and Andrea Cooper, both 12 years old and students at Lakes Middle School, received half-scholarships; and Brandy Horne, 11, and a student at Ramsey Elementary, received a full scholarship.
Lake City High sophomore Alexandra Taylor, 15, was accepted to the New York City Ballet Company’s summer school for the second consecutive year.
Holiday’s Celebrations Inc., with Hallmark shops owned by Bruce and Adrienne Winters in Coeur d’Alene and Spokane, have been cited for exceptional retail performance in Hallmark’s Gold Crown Network.
The Winters, who received a trip to The Registry Resort in Naples, Fla., were praised by Hallmark for exemplifying excellence in specialty store retailing and setting the high bar for the group of 200 Gold Crown owners to follow.
John Bonwell, superintendent at Coeur d’Alene Public Golf Course, recently completed the renewal process for maintaining the status of Certified Golf Course Superintendent with the Golf Course Superintendent Association of America.
Bonwell, who has been the superintendent at the course since 1988, achieved his CGCS title in 1987.
Certification requirements include at least three years experience as a golf course superintendent, employment in that category and meeting specific post secondary educational requirements and/or continuing education units and the passing of a rigorous sixhour examination of knowledge of GCSAA and the certification program, rules of golf, turfgrass management, safety and compliance, pest control and financial and human resource management.
