Dolphins Sign Huard
The Miami Dolphins have agreed to contract terms with former University of Washington quarterback Damon Huard.
Huard, 23, signed as a rookie free agent last season with the Cincinnati Bengals and was released during training camp.
At Washington, Huard threw for 5,692 yards, making him the school’s all-time leader. He also is UW’s all-time leader in total offense with 5,813 yards.
University of Idaho football players Ryan Fien and Montrell Williams have signed free-agent contracts.
Fien, a quarterback who played his senior season at Idaho after transferring from UCLA, signed with Oakland. He passed for 3,674 yards and 27 touchdowns last season.
Williams, who played in 1995 and appears fully rehabilitated after a knee injury, signed with Dallas.
The Philadelphia Eagles released veteran kicker Gary Anderson, five weeks after acquiring free agent kicker Chris Boniol from the Dallas Cowboys.
The Atlanta Falcons released veteran safety Patrick Bates, charged with beating his ex-girlfriend while she was feeding their 3-year-old son last week.
Bates, 26, was arrested April 16 after his ex-girlfriend accused him of kicking in the door to her apartment and beating her. He is charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping and child endangerment.
