Seth Everett Moscow, Idaho

Memorial service for Seth Irving Everett, 72, will be held today at 1 p.m. at Short’s Funeral Chapel in Moscow.

Mr. Everett, who was born in Montana, died Sunday.

He grew up and attended schools in the Flathead Valley in Montana and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was captured at the Battle of the Bulge and held prisoner in Germany.

After his military service, he moved to Whitefish, Mont., and worked for Burlington Northern Railroad before becoming a truck driver and salesman for the Coca-Cola Co.

Mr. Everett moved to Missoula in 1949 and worked for the Singer Sewing Machine Co. as a truck driver until being transferred to Everett in 1952.

He became the youngest manager for the Singer Co. in the Northwest region and transferred to Spokane in 1956.

He later moved to Lewiston before settling in Moscow in 1960, where he was manager of the Lewiston, Coeur d’Alene and Moscow Singer stores.

Mr. Everett entered a joint venture in 1969 with the Moscow Furniture Co., and opened Seth’s Sewing Center. He moved to his own store in 1972.

He retired in 1988 and continued part-time repair work at home.

Mr. Everett recently moved to the Moscow Good Samaritan Village. He was a member of the American Legion, and a past member of the Moscow Elks Club and the Moose Lodge.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Viv; a daughter, Sandra Everett Cann, and a son, Larry Everett, both of Moscow; one sister, Sylvia Moran of Montana; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Orzella Hartford Spokane

No service will be held for Orzella Bee Hartford, 86. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hartford, who died Monday, was born in Wallace.

She graduated from Wallace High School and moved to Spokane 28 years ago.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Hartford is survived by a nephew, Mike McEachern of Coeur d’Alene.

Ella Thompson Moscow, Idaho

Viewing for Ella Josephine Thompson, 85, will be today and Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Short’s Funeral Chapel in Moscow. Service will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Moscow Cemetery.

Ms. Thompson, who was born in Blaine, Idaho, died Monday.

She graduated from Moscow High School, then moved to New York City in 1932 before returning to Moscow in 1945.

Ms. Thompson returned to New York briefly before moving to Moscow permanently in 1963.

She worked as a waitress and cook at local restaurants, and also did housekeeping.

Ms. Thompson recently moved to Latah Health Services in Moscow.

Survivors include two sisters, Ida Thompson of Moscow and Inga McLean of Spokane.

Trudy Floyd Bonners Ferry, Idaho

Service for Trudy Floyd, 63, will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Bonners Ferry Funeral Home.

Mrs. Floyd, who was born in Gunzburg, Germany, died Monday.

She immigrated to the United States in 1935 and grew up and attended schools in Philadelphia.

Mrs. Floyd later worked as a dance instructor for 25 years, and owned and operated an Arthur Murray Dance Studio. She also worked as a kennel operator and dog groomer.

She worked in remodeling, painting and tile laying before retiring and moving to Bonners Ferry in 1994.

Survivors include her husband, Ray; a brother, Walt Kaltmaier of Arizona; her father, Alfons Kaltmaier of Arizona; four stepchildren, Cindy Fields, Christie Russell and Michael Floyd, all of California, and Cheryl Paulson of Naples, Idaho; and five stepgrandchildren, Shannon, Deonna, Carol, John and Grant.

Walter Wallace Spokane

Memorial Mass for Walter M. Wallace, 73, is planned for 1 p.m. May 17 at St. Charles Catholic Church. Private inurnment will be at the Fairmount Memorial Park. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wallace, who was born in Lincoln, Neb., died Saturday.

He served in the Army during the Korean War and had lived in Spokane for 55 years. He worked for Pacific Northwest Bell for 42 years.

Mr. Wallace was a member of St. Charles Parish, the Moose Lodge, the Telephone Pioneers of America and was the director of the Mendelson Choir.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Audrey Wallace; two sons, Jeffrey Wallace of Boston and David Wallace of Spokane; a daughter, Marilee Pulsipher of Coeur d’Alene; two grandchildren and four stepgrandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane.

Melvin Evenson Post Falls

Memorial service for Melvin A. Evenson, 53, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Evergreen Cemetery in Priest River, Idaho. Heritage Funeral Home in Spokane is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Evenson’s body was found April 16 in Rathdrum, Idaho. He had been missing since late March.

He was born in Newport, Wash., and had worked as a truck driver for Acme Concrete.

Mr. Evenson was a member of the Teamsters Local No. 690 and served in the Navy during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include a son, James Evenson of Rathdrum, Idaho; three daughters, Shelia Evenson of Mount Vernon, Wash., and Sandy and Stacy; three brothers, Ray Evenson of Post Falls, Robert Evenson of Dalkena, Wash., and Stanley Evenson of Puyallup, Wash.; two sisters, Ruth Weyer of North Bend, Ore., and Joyce Boschee of Rathdrum; and one grandchild.

Walter DeMers Idaho Falls, Idaho

Service for Walter A. DeMers, 78, will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Coffelt’s Moon Chapel in Sandpoint. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint.

Mr. DeMers, who was born in Sandpoint, died Sunday.

He grew up and graduated from high school in Sandpoint in 1937. He flew airplanes for the Civil Air Patrol out of Spokane prior to World War II.

Mr. DeMers served with the Army Air Corps during World War II and worked for the Atomic Energy Commission in Arco, Idaho, from the 1940s until his retirement in 1978.

He went on to work as a flight instructor in Idaho Falls.

Survivors include a sister, Joy Price of Sandpoint; and two brothers, James DeMers of Montana and Loren DeMers of Oregon.

Mary Mullins Coeur d’Alene

Graveside service for Mary Ann Mullins, 79, will be Monday at noon at St. Thomas Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Mullins, who was born in Montana, died Sunday.

She grew up in Montana and worked as a government stenographer during World War II.

Mrs. Mullins later moved to San Francisco and worked as a property manager for many years before moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1992.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Shirley “Moon” Mullins.

She is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins, including Dan Hannon, Terry Hannon and Florence Herby, all of Coeur d’Alene, and Bob McCammon of Post Falls.

Mary Howard Fairfield

Service for Mary J. (Wynne) Howard, 74, is set for 10 a.m. today at the Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Pines Cemetery.

Mrs. Howard, who died Monday, was born in Tekoa, Wash.

She was a 41-year Spokane resident and was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Lady Trainsmen.

Her husband, Carl Howard, died in 1993.

Survivors include a son, Pat Howard of Spokane.
