Shoplifting Suspect Hits Employee

A hulking shoplifter was arrested at the Logan neighborhood Safeway last weekend after store employees and customers held the 6-foot-5-inch, 215-pound man for police.

Store security guards saw a man stash a pack of cigarettes and food in a backpack. He paid for a bottle of soda and a quart of milk. When confronted by three store employees, he hit one in the face.

A customer helped the three hold the man down. Police arrested Gregory Marks, 20, 502 E. Boone, for second-degree armed robbery.

Police investigating bar fight

A fight between two acquaintances Saturday at the Shed Restaurant resulted in a 34 year-old man being hospitalized with a four-inch cut on his jaw.

The alleged assailant was not cooperating with police, and the victim was incapacitated in the hospital. Police are investigating.

Bondsman assaulted

A bail bondsman’s attempts to arrest a fugitive were foiled when the fugitive’s wife assaulted the bondsman.

Police later arrested James A. Adams, 31, and Laice L. Adams, 29, at their 5203 N. Martin residence. James Adams was wanted on six outstanding warrants; Laice Adams had one outstanding warrant. They were booked April 9 into the Spokane County Jail on assault charges.

Laice Adams quickly ended a bail bondsman’s visit earlier in the day when she jumped on the man as he was trying to subdue James Adams with a stun gun, police said. The bondsman had entered the couple’s home and found James Adams hiding in a closet.
