‘Chasing Amy’ Goes Past Familiar Theme

Kevin Smith’s film “Chasing Amy” is a movie that viewers are likely either to love or hate. It draws on Smith’s familiar themes, but it goes a step further than “Clerks” or “Mallrats” in studying the nature of love. In this case, the question is whether a straight man and a lesbian can find true love. While writing the occasionally brilliant line, Smith avoids the Hollywood ending, which is a joy in itself. , DataTimes ILLUSTRATION: Photo
