Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: Can you please print the recipe for making sweetened condensed milk? You printed it once in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, but I must have misplaced it. Elsie Denis, St. Louis

Here is a recipe that’s easy to make, so clip it out and tape it to the inside of your favorite cookbook. It will be easy to find when you need it!

Mix the following ingredients in a blender until all the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is smooth:

1 cup powdered milk

1/3 cup boiling water

2/3 cup granulated sugar

3 tablespoons butter

A few drops of water can be added to the mixture, if necessary, to make it look like sweetened condensed milk. If you don’t use this right away, store it in the refrigerator.

I’m glad you asked, as many readers request it. - Heloise
