Composting Bins Offered By County

From Staff And Wire Reports

The Kootenai County Solid Waste department is offering county residents a special deal on composting bins.

The $35 “Earth Machines” are made from black, recycled plastic. They offer an affordable way to dispose of yard and kitchen waste, said recycling coordinator Jill Bowes.

The 68-gallon capacity bins can process waste in as little as 60 days.

A limited number still are available, and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis, Bowes said. They can be picked up today between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the transfer station at 3650 Ramsey Road.

People are asked to enter the lower gate, immediately after the Cutting Edge business, and continue to the south side of the blue metal building. Pickup will be at the overhead door.

To schedule a different pickup time, call Bowes on Monday at 666-8172. , DataTimes
