Free Water Testing Of Home Wells Offered
Volunteers with the Kootenai-Shoshone Soil Conservation District are offering free tests of home drinking water to people who get water from private wells.
Private wellhead owners can have their drinking water tested from May 5 to May 9 by calling Lance Holloway, with the Idaho Association of Soil Conservation Districts, (208) 338-4321; or Mary, at the Kootenai-Shoshone district, 667-2548.
The program, called Idaho’s Homestead Assessment System, is designed to protect and enhance Idaho’s drinking water sources and comes in response to recent concerns about nitrate contamination in wells near Post Falls.
