Flir Systems Buys Swedish Company

Portland-based Flir Systems Inc. will double in size by acquiring a Swedish maker of industrial infrared imaging equipment in a stock deal worth about $89.3 million.

In buying Agema Infrared Systems AB, Flir also gains a second manufacturing facility, a research and development operation and an international sales and service team.

Together the two companies generated about $114 million in sales, about 30 percent of their potential worldwide market.
