Fund-Raising Call List For Hillary At Issue

Compiled From Wire Services

The Democratic Party prepared a list of 11 prospective fund-raising calls for Hillary Rodham Clinton last year, but the White House said Thursday the first lady does not recall making them.

The Democratic National Committee drew up 12 “call sheets” for Hillary Clinton, party spokesman Steve Langdon said. The information was turned over to the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee, which is conducting hearings on campaign fund-raising abuse.

Hillary Clinton “doesn’t have any recollection of being asked to, or having made, any fund-raising calls,” spokeswoman Marsha Berry said. Fund-raising calls could have been a problem if Hillary Clinton made them from the White House. Former White House counsel Abner Mikva wrote in a 1995 policy memo, “No fund-raising phone calls or mail may emanate from the White House or any other federal building.”
