Travelers Agent Swamped By Calls

From Staff And Wire Reports

A local independent insurance agent who handles some Travelers insurance policies was apparently swamped with phone calls Thursday from people who want to go to work for Travelers Property Casualty when it opens a national sales center in Spokane later this year.

Travelers Property Casualty announced Wednesday it would open the center this year and employ 500 people, most of them hired locally, within three years.

Officials of the Spokane Area Economic Development Council said Thursday that any local insurance agents who might handle Travelers policies have nothing to do with staffing of the national sales center.

Officials of the EDC said people who want more information about Travelers jobs should contact the Washington State Employment Security Office, 130 S. Arthur, Spokane, 99202, or call (509) 532-3134.
